Rooftop peanut butter & squats
Last month I worked up a sweat high up at the Wellscene's Rooftop Fitness Fest where I was supporting Siberri in their mission to quench the thirst of attendees via ice cold bottles of Maple, Birch and Bamboo water! I brought along Kirsten-my flatmate from university who was visiting for the weekend and we made the most of the food & fitness tasters on offer!
As the demand for Siberri refreshing bottles of tree water was pretty high on this hot Saturday in July I didn't sign up for any of the full length classes- but Kirsten worked twice as hard on my behalf at Tonan's bootcamp- which was a 45 minute HIIT workout led my PT Lonan O'Herlihy. He runs these classes in collaboration with Tiffany Watson from Made in Chelsea but much to my disappointment (I am a self confessed MIC mega fan) she was in South of France filming so couldn't attend! Kirsten thought it was a great workout but couldn't quite take Lonan seriously as he said things like, 'I don't often make it out of the Chelsea area'. I managed to experience the bootcamp for myself (and meet Tiff!) when I went along to one held in LuluLemon in Chelsea-read about that here.
I did manage to fit in a few of the shorter classes that were on offer- 15 minute drop in sessions beside where the live band was playing. Of these, the Boxing yoga was AWESOME! I love the physical aspects of yoga but struggle with the chanting/spiritual aspects of it so this approach to yoga was right up my street. I would highly recommend it and I am currently trying to locate where I can attend a full length class!
Did I mention the toast bar?!
While the fitness classes were the focus of the day- I can't not talk about the amazing food on offer! My favourite peanut butter brand Pip and Nut were hosting a complimentary toast bar which I firmly believe will be a feature at my wedding! The lovely pip and nut girls toasted up some yummy sourdough bread and then offered choice of several flavours of PB along with an array of toppings. I went for coconut PB (the greatest food invention since records began) with fresh berries while Kirsten opted for almond butter with berries and grated chocolate. I had never thought of putting berries on PB and toast but WOW what a revelation. I couldn't not go back later on- this time opting for banana and chocolate.
The other stand out food offering was from a brand I had not heard of before called Rhythm 108 who make fruit and nut based dessert bars and biscuits. By my third visit to raid the samples I felt it was time to make a purchase and it did not disappoint. Their chocolate walnut brownie dessert bar is sensational when warmed up in the microwave and served with a dollop of yogurt! At just 166kcals and packing a serious nutritional punch from its fruit and nut ingredients, it makes a great alternative from classic desserts.
There were many other stands offering services like hair braiding, beauty products and yoga outfits making for a fab day out which I would highly recommend!
